Can the Prophet be seen in his image in a dream?

Many of our scholars say that it is possible to see the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, in a dream, and that seeing him in a dream is real. Because the devils cannot imitate the personality of the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and is such a belief polytheistic or not?

Answer: This saying is true and it is from the creed of the Muslims and there is no shirk in it, because it has been proven that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: Whoever sees me in a dream has seen me, for Satan does not appear in my image Agreed on its authenticity, this authentic hadith indicates that he, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, may see in sleep, and that whoever sees him in sleep in his well-known form has seen him, because Satan does not appear in his image, but it does not necessitate that the seer be among the righteous, and it is not permissible to rely on him. Rather, what the seer heard from the Prophet in terms of commands, prohibitions, news, or other things that the seer hears or sees of the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, must be presented on the book and the correct Sunnah, so what agreed with them or one of them came before, and what contradicted them or one of them to leave; Because God, Glory be to Him, perfected its religion for this nation and completed its blessing upon it before the death of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, so it is not permissible to accept from any of the people what contradicts what he knows of God’s law and religion, whether it is through a vision or something else, and this is the place of consensus among the people of knowledge who count on them. Whoever sees him, peace and blessings be upon him, in a form other than his image, then his dream will be false, such as seeing him as a man with no beard, or seeing him black in color, or similar to that of characteristics that contradict his attribute, peace and blessings be upon him, because he said, peace and blessings be upon him: “The devil does not appear in my image.” This is based on the fact that Satan may appear in an image other than his image, may blessings and peace be upon him, and claim that he is the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, in order to mislead people and deceive them.
Then not everyone who claims to have seen him, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, is truthful. Rather, the claim of that is accepted from the trustworthy people who are known for their truthfulness and uprightness according to the law of God, Glory be to Him. Sleep, peace and blessings be upon him, is a priority[1].
